Day 1
Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to Moshi. (40 km / Approx 1-2 hour. Situated south of the equator in Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro rises to an impressive 19,340 feet (5,895m), making it the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. For those who successfully conquer this mighty peak, the reward is a sense of unparalleled accomplishment and breathtaking views.

Day 2
Machame Gate – Machame Camp
After an early breakfast, your guide will provide a climb briefing, and then you'll depart for the National Park Gate( 5,380 ft)(about 1 hour). After signing in, you'll begin a 2-3 hour walk through dense forest with tropical vegetation, where views of Kibo are limited. The pace is slow and steady to aid acclimatization, with some steep sections but not overly strenuous. Keep your personal gear in your daypack, as porters carry the rest. A lunch stop will be made halfway. After a 5-7 hour hike, you'll arrive at Machame Hut between 5-6 pm. There’s no need to rush; a slow ascent is recommended for better acclimatization. The porters will set up camp, and meals will be prepared for you. Eat well, as appetite can diminish at higher altitudes.

Day 3
Machame Camp – New Shira Camp
After an early breakfast, your guide will provide a briefing, and then you'll begin the trek to New Shira Camp (12,600 ft). The day starts with a steep climb through tall grasses, volcanic rock, and bearded heather, offering views of giant groundsels and a dramatic landscape of lava, caves, and foamy streams. Lunch will be taken just below the Shira Plateau after 3-4 hours of hiking.The final section of the route is relatively flat but still requires a slow, steady pace. Arriving at New Shira Camp between 2-3 pm, you’ll find the campsite exposed and cold, with a chance of rain or sleet. The ground and tents may be frozen in the morning, but the stunning sunrises and sunsets are well worth it. Eat well to keep your strength up for the climb ahead.

Day 4
Shira Camp – Barranco Camp
After an early breakfast, you'll begin your trek from Shira Camp, enjoying stunning views of the Shira Plateau, Meru, and the Shira Needles. The steady climb takes you up to Lava Tower, where you'll stop for lunch.After crossing the Bastain stream, you'll begin your descent towards Barranco Camp, passing through the Great Barranco Canyon with its numerous waterfalls.The camp is set at a similar altitude to the previous night, but the day will be long and tiring.From Barranco camp, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of the glaciers on Kibo and the beautiful Umbwe Valley below, making it one of the most scenic campsites on the mountain.

Day 5
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
After breakfast, you’ll face the Barranco Wall 12,960 ft, a climb over rocks that may look intimidating but requires no technical skills. It’s a tiring and long day, and guides may use rope on some sections for added safety.You’ll then descend into Karanga Valley, followed by a short, steep ascent to Karanga Camp, which sits at 4,040 m (13,255 ft). Pace yourself and breathe steadily—don’t rush to keep up with others. Listen to your guide, who will help you manage your pace. The day will be cold, especially during lunch and rest stops, so dress warmly as you may encounter some sleet. You’ll arrive at Karanga Camp, with the afternoon offering a chance to hike in the Karanga Valley, though resting is recommended to prepare for the upcoming climb.

Day 6
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
After breakfast, you’ll continue your climb from Karanga Valley (13,255 ft) to Barafu Camp,(14,930 ft) where you'll prepare for your final ascent to the peak. The route is lined with shale rock, some of it paper-thin, and offers great views of Kibo if the weather is clear. You’ll arrive at Barafu Camp in time for lunch, followed by a summit clothing check. Climbers ascending the peak will go to bed early in preparation for the midnight summit push.Stay hydrated, as the area is dry despite the cold, and tomorrow will be a long, strenuous day.

Day 7
Summit Day!!
You’ll be woken with tea and biscuits, then begin the final ascent, which is tough and slow. Temperatures can range from -4°F to 5°F, and you'll climb scree for about 4-5 hours. Frequent stops will be made to rest. Dress warmly with layers of socks and gloves to protect from the cold.Once you reach Stella Point 18,871 ft, you’ll continue around the crater rim to Uhuru Peak 19,340 ft , the highest point in Africa. Take in the view, celebrate your success, and then begin the descent.The descent is just as challenging, with rocky and icy paths.. After about 3 hours, you’ll reach Barafu Camp for rest and refreshments before continuing down to Mweka Camp 10,170 ft in the late afternoon.

Day 8
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate
After breakfast, you’ll begin a 3-4 hour descent through the scenic rainforest to Mweka Gate 6,500 ft. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by the vehicle and may enjoy a refreshing drink, with beers and Cokes often available for purchase.Your guides will hand out your certificates of achievement before you transfer to the hotel for a well-deserved hot shower.

Day 9
Goodbye Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure. If you’ve booked a post-trip to Zanzibar, transfers to the airport for your onward journey will be arranged.
